GOAT FEST 2006

Well, this past weekend a little event known as Goat Fest 2006 took place in Brady, TX. This was my first year to attend this great event that has been going on for many years. You see, every year Brady hosts the World Championship Goat Cookoff. This coincides with my friend Ty inviting a group of friends to the ranch his parents live on outside of Brady. It was a weekend that consisted of tons of fun, tons of food, time to relax and recharge, spending time with old friends while at the same time making new ones. Below you'll find an abridged log of the weekend.

Friday:

8:30 - leave Dallas

10:30 - stop at Wal-Mart in Brownwood, TX. I somehow feel like I'm back at Van Alstyne High.

12:30 - arrive in Brady

Saturday:

9:00 - wake up for cinnamon rolls.

See the unbelievable view from the deck off the house. Brady is right on the edge of the hill country and the house sits right on the side of a hill allowing you to see for miles. You feel like you can see all of Texas.
9:30 - the conversation naturally turns to fantasy football and the league which some of the guys are in together.

9:35 - some of the girls find themselves interested in the fantasy football talk.

9:37 - someone suggests we create another league and have a live draft as you can see below. My assistant coach Lindsay and I are convinced our team will win it all. Even having had the last pick.
11:00 - it's off to the goat cookoff.

Sometimes people buy dogs on a whim at the goat cookoff so I was fully prepared to do so. The only ones I found though were on leashes with owners who didn't think it would be funny if I took their dog. So no dog for me ... yet.

The food was delicious. The people are great. It makes me feel like I'm back in my own hometown ... only no one has known me since I was yay tall.

2:30 - nap time

4:00 - hanging on the deck with Jaime and Stephanie.

7:00 - continue fantasy football draft ... girls still loving it.

9:30 - It's street dance time with Wade Bowen.

Sunday:

11:00 - time for church. It was a great time of fellowship and worship with friends.

12:30 - that's right. It's time to eat again.

2:00 - conclusion of fantasy draft. Still confident that team "Let It Ride" will be victorious.

3:00 - nap time

6:00 - more food and time for kicking butt in any game anyone wanted to play.

12:00 - watch professional bull fighting on t.v. with the cool kids while all the old folks are in bed.

Monday:

9:30 - wake up call from the old folks who have been up for hours.

10:00 - eat some more great food

1:00 - it's time to hit the road again. Back to Dallas. But it was a great weekend and a much needed getaway. So glad to have gotten the invite and already anxious for Goat Fest 2007.
