SOME FUNNY STUFF

"Vampires are make believe ... like werewolves, gremlins, and eskimos" - Homer Simpson

I was thinking about the good ole college days yesterday and for some reason my old College Station phone number came to mind and made me laugh. I laughed because the number was 696-2662. Also known as 696-BOOB.

Lastnight I was buying groceries at Kroger and the girl that was sacking the groceries only had one arm. I have to say for a one armed girl she was pretty good at it. I just thought they could have found a better job for her than sacking groceries though. Because in sacking groceries, two arms are always better than one arm. I'm just sayin' ...

AMERICAN IDOL

First of all a little geneology lesson.

My mom married my stepdad, A.C. He has a niece named Tina. I guess that technically makes her my step cousin right? Well, she recently got married and her husband has a son from a previous marriage that lives with them. His name is Jonathan Pilgrim. He is the one you'll need to know for this story and as I thought about how we're related it began to get complicated so I thought I would spell it out for you.

Here's the deal. Jonathan is a freshman music major at Baylor University. Apparently he wanted to try out for American Idol so recently when the tryouts were held in San Antonio he went down to take a shot at it. He went through 3 different rounds and was chosen to go on to Hollywood to continue the competition. I just found this out tonight and these are the only details I have. I'm not a fan of the American Idol and never watch it, but given the circumstance I see an exception being made. If you are one of the billions of people who also watch the show you should keep an eye out for him ... and vote for him. Jonathan Pilgrim.

SONGS

Music amazes me. A lot of people have written a lot of music over the years. A lot of it is really good (at least according to me). But it takes a special person and situation to write something that transcends all expectation for what a song should be and what it should do. Lyle Lovett is one of my favorite writers. He writes so simply, but so beautifully. Anyways, the point of this is to just post some excerpts of some of the songs I've been listening to lately and that have meant a lot. I've found myself to be a little melancholy lately so the tone of my music has seemed to mirror that. A lot of the words however don't have anything to do with the things I've been going through or thinking about ... but I think they are amazingly written and should be shared. If you want to actually hear the songs you can find them on the internet or just come over to my house. So here you go:

And I'm wilder than her
It drives her out of her mind
I guess she thought that she was just one of a kind.
She's a summer storm
I'm a hurricane
One just blows through town and one blows the town away
And I'm wilder than her

-Fred Eaglesmith

She said that girl in the corner,
She's more than pretty
And man you're not the first to look over her way
If you still want
I could introduce you
But you never will be the same
The she looked at me and she laughed at me
And she extended her hand to me
And the rest they say is history

-Lyle Lovett
