WTF #2

Fergie ... of Black Eyed Peas fame

Fergie, you're such a great person. I've loved you from the day we first met. We connect on so many different levels and there is so much about you I love. When I'm feeling a little down, you're always there to pick me up and make me smile. When I need someone to talk to you're always a great listener. You're the most beautiful woman I've ever met in my life and when I'm with you I feel like I'm a whole new man. No woman in the world can compare to you and for some time now I've felt like you may be the one I want to settle down with, the one who finally reels me in, the one who finally completes me. That's right Stacy Ferguson a.k.a. Fergie. I'm talking about marriage. But I've got to be honest with you. Even though you seem to be the perfect woman for me and the soulmate I've searched for all these years ... I'm just not sure I'm ready to be with someone who wets herself on stage in front of thousands of people. Maybe we should take some time off so I can figure this thing out. In the mean time, here's a towel. Go clean yourself up.

WTF #1

Hillary & Joel

I was watching Jimmy Kimmel the other night and he had Hillary Duff on the show. During the interview he asked her who she was dating and she admitted she was seeing this guy named Joel who is the lead singer for Good Charlotte. I'm not a member of the Hillary Duff fan club (unfortunately) so I'm not sure exactly how long this has been going on but it definitely deserves a big WTF. Admittedly Hillary Duff is very attractive and I can understand the desire to go out with her but come on Mr. Good Charlotte. It's been obvious for several years your soul was the property of the pop gods, and congratulations for the success it has brought you, but give me a break man. You're still trying to go with this wear all black/be covered in tattoos/I'm punk rock sort of persona but then you start going out with Lizzie freakin' McGuire. What gives? Whatever you want to do is cool but please get off the fence. Oh yeah, I almost forgot the fact that this guy is a few years older than I am and I would definitely feel really akward about going out with a girl that just turned 18. 19 ... whole new story, but 18 is an age where they are most likely still in high school. Not cool Hillary.

Word of Caution

This afternoon I was writing some music (some of which you will find below) and as I was trying to hear the right beats in my head I got a little carried away with using my pen as a drum stick. After this drumming was over I noticed a small blue spot on the wall in front of my desk. Then I looked around and saw blue splattered spots everywhere. Pens are apparently not supposed to be used for drumming air and now I have a splattering of blue ink on and around my desk. So if you're going to use a pen for a drumstick, make sure the ink is the same color as the wall paint.

Planerides and Lifetimes

Planerides and lifetimes
Are too long for waiting on
Seeing you smile
And telling you I'm yours, always.

A sudden unexpected change in mood
All eyes on you as you walk into the room
Nothing to say
Unable to move
Cannot decide
Should I tell you

I think of you while driving in my car
My car is where I spend all of my time
It's out on the table
Move quickly
Can't keep it there too long
Contingency is to just play it off cool
And then move on.

She pulls her bluejeans on
Husband and kids at home
He wakes up as she's leaving
And asks if it was the last time
She cries 'cause it's not the last time.

So sing the music in your head
That they play in the movies
To make the ordinary grand
When they're riding in their cars
Just staring out the window
While the music is playing on

He drives his mother home
The sound of funeral songs
Are stuck inside his head
And he knows it was the last time
He cries because it's the last time

And everything I see
Is not how it was meant to be
And everything I need
Is right here in the movies.

Nervous Habits

Below is a short list of several nervous habits that I either started or restarted almost at exactly the same time I moved to the DFW area.

1) Teeth Grinding
- not the inadvertant kind that happens while you sleep and can be very loud. I don't think you can really help that. Mine is the kind of you are very conscious of and goes on all day. By the way, does anyone know if this can mess your teeth up? I hope not. And does anyone know how to make oneself stop doing it? It's weird because I used to do this as a kid but can't remember doing it in years. I think the no job thing kind of got to me and made me very nervous on some level. It's not like me to be that way.

2) Remote Flipping
- I can't stop flipping the tv remote control over and over in my hand while watching tv. The crazy thing is I don't always catch it and it falls and hits my feet or other pieces of furniture. A remote to the foot doesn't feel so great. This is a new habit. Not sure why I chose it over other potential nervous habits but like the others, it started right after my move here.

3) Weird Thumb Thing
- Sometimes I can feel the joints in my thumb get tight and so I can curl the thumb back in a certain motion to sort of work out the kink. Now I find myself doing this all the time even if the joints aren't tight and don't need attention. I wonder if anyone around me ever notices this because I think it probably looks weird.

Do other people do crap like this? Curious.

FX

So apparently FX has a lot of really good shows on right now. There's some guy who has created a number of them (The Shield, Rescue Me, Over There, etc) but I can't think of it right now. The only one I've seen is The Shield because back when I was making sales calls in Austin I would go over to Paul Pearson's house and watch it because it was his favorite show. There were some pretty graphic situations that sort of turned me off (that's saying a lot) so I never really fell in love with it. Anyways, the point of this post is to report on two new shows I saw tonight. First of all there is a show called "Starved". It's about 4 people with eating disorders and is filled with dark humor. From everything I hear the show has been pretty controversial so far and this was only the first episode. I found it to be disturbingly funny and would recommend at least watching one episode. Right after it was another brand new show called "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia". Not as disturbing. Equally funny. They are on back to back from 9:00 CST to 10:00 CST Thursday nights on FX. If you're wanting some new television you should check them out. Just flip over right after The O.C.
